National School to Watch


Orginally designated in 2016, and re-designated in 2019, the Vacaville Unified School District proudly congratulates the remarkable staff and students of Willis Jepson Middle School for being honored as a State of California School to Watch.TM  The recognition as a model school comes from organizations including the California League of Middle Schools (CLMS) and the California Department of Education (CDE).  

Only 13 out of over 1,300 middle schools in California received the California School to WatchTM distinction. In 2016, Congressman John Garamendi recognized Willis Jepson Middle School with a  Congressional Commendation for the achievement as well. Each year, the program identifies middle schools that are academically excellent, developmentally responsive, socially equitable, and structured for success. The sites selected to be Schools to Watch™-Taking Center Stage Model Schools meet the unique challenges of their student populations and share a strong, ongoing record of student achievement.
