What Separates Us From the Rest

Outstanding Athletic Teams

  • Over 400 students participate in our league championship teams each year.

Amazing Music Program

  • Over 200 students participate in music each year, including Jazz Band, the Patio Concert, and the annual USO show.

Super Leadership Program

  • Consisting of Peer Assistants, Club Live, Student Council, Yearbook and Student Activities.
  • Over 120 students participate each year.
  • Promote a safe, fun environment for all students through lunchtime activities, dances, orientation, and tutoring.

Unique Classes

  • Foods, Art, Arts and Crafts, Metals, Computer Technology, and Video Production.
  • One of the last remaining metal shop classes for middle school students.

Recognition Program at Willis Jepson Middle School

At Willis Jepson Middle School we have a population of very talented students.  It is our effort to positively recognize students for making good choices by: being responsible, academic excellence, demonstrating significant academic improvement, diligent/hardworking, kind, empathetic, or helpful to another students or staff, attendance 

A student can win the award once per year while at Willis Jepson Middle School.

Student of the Quarter for:

Work Ethic: Always tries his or her best, does all class work and homework on time, goes over and beyond what is asked, consistently gives 100%.

Leadership:  Involves others in class in a positive way, sets a positive example for others, takes initiative in and out of class, and contributes to our community of learners.

Scholarship: Completes all work and is prepared for class, meets and exceeds standards of learning, excellent quality of work, and works to ability and helps others. 

Achievement in math: Students who bring up their grade plus show hard work and dedication!

Positive change in the area of academics– improved grades; improved assignment completion across contents, etc

Attendance: improved punctuality to school and class; improved daily attendance, etc.

Career Tech. Award: Students who show great technical, artistic and musical skills that can lead to success in future careers and to become lifelong learners.  This award is for our elective courses.

Character contribution: student exhibits a particular strength in trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, or citizenship

Do the Right Thing: Recognize and reward Jepson students for their exemplary behavior, accomplishments, and good deeds!  The award is for students who strive to make good choices, do well in school, give back to their communities, involved in or compete extracurricular activities.

** Each quarter we will publish a list of students on the bulletin in the quad who made:

Principal’s Honor Roll means you have earned an “A” in every class.

You can still earn the regular Honor Roll if you earn all A’s and B’s with no more than one C. You must have at least one “A” if you have one “C”. Your Grade Point Average (GPA) must be a 3.0 or higher.

National Junior Honor Society

The National Junior Honor Society is one of the oldest and most respected student recognition organizations in the United States. Membership in NJHS distinguishes students who have committed themselves to the pursuit of academic excellence, community improvement, and personal development.

Academic achievement is a core component of NJHS, but today’s students need much more than just good grades to get ahead. NJHS’s focus on service, leadership, and character which helps students build the skills and relationships that will ensure success throughout their academic years and beyond.

Eligible students will be invited to apply to the National Junior Honor Society.  Willis Jepson membership eligibility requirements are the following:

  • 8thGrade Student
  • 3.5 GPA for all 4 quarters of 7thgrade 
  • 3.5 GPA for 1st and 2nd quarters of 8thgrade.
  • Leadership
  • Teacher Recommendation
  • Application by student
  • Community Service
  • Extra Curricular Activities

There will be an induction ceremony in the Spring for those students who qualified.

A Sense of Community

Willis Jepson is a community school, surrounded by the local neighborhood and nestled in the hills.

8 teachers attended Jepson as students and returned to teach here.

Many students now attending Jepson are children and grandchildren of former students.

Challenging and Supportive Academics

Willis Jepson offers a variety of classes designed to meet the needs of our students.

  • Built in intervention periods in English, Math and Science
  • Advanced Math 7
  • Integrated Math 1
  • 8th grade Advanced History and English


The Committee of the Vacaville Chamber of Commerce hosts a special recognition event, “GOTCHA”, for 450 of the most successful and improved students from our middle schools and Independent Study Program. The eligible students are transported by school bus to Stars Recreation Center for a day of music, bowling, lunch, and mingling with the business and government leaders of Vacaville.  This event is usually in May and eligible students will receive their invitation through the counseling office in May.
